Gary Allen Kane, 70, of Covington Township, passed away Thursday morning at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife the former Marion Hollenback, who passed away in 1999, we know was there to greet him with open arms.
Born in Newark, New Jersey he was the son of the late John and Georgia Wilson Kane and a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a forklift operator and picker for W.W. Norton, where he made a few lifelong friends and met his future wife and best friend, Marion.
Gary will be remembered in so many ways but especially for his love of his children and grandchildren. There wasn’t a day that went by that they weren’t the topic of his discussion. You would always hear him telling them about random music facts or something about his favorite show, Law & Order, but at the end of the day, his “Born on Broadway” dance skills will forever be our favorite memory.
Surviving are his daughters, Sara Kane, Covington Township and Megan Williams and husband Jim, Scranton. Step-daughters, Maryellen Johnson and husband Jay, Arizona and Holly Walsh, Clarks Summit. Grandchildren, Ciara, Kyle and Alex Cupelli, James and Abigail Williams. Great Granddaughter Scarlett. A sister, Karen Rukat and husband John, Throop. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marion and brother John Kane.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday evening at 6 PM at Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker Street, Dunmore.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 to 6 PM.
Inurnment is private at Dunmore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
