Caroline T. Angerson, 98, of Dunmore, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Green Ridge Health Care Center in Scranton. Her husband, the late Michael J. Sr., passed away Sept. 27, 2003.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose Napolitano Alfano and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School’s class of 1943. She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Carol was a longtime volunteer for Telespond and Hospice of the Sacred Heart and was chosen as Lackawanna County Volunteer of the Year for her dedicated service. She was also very active in the Dunmore Senior Citizen Center and was a familiar face working the polls during election season for 60 years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her son, Michael J. Jr. and wife, Catherine Brennan Angerson, Dunmore; a sister, Joan Manno, Virginia; grandson, Michael Angerson and wife, Amy, and their children, Hailey, Carson and Clay, Fredericksburg, Va.; granddaughter, Megan Ferrara and husband, Joe, and their children, Doug and Gavin, Perkasie, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Kay Manno, Josephine Mendola, Grace Lazar and Eleanor McGraw; and a brother, Marty Alfano.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Family and friends may pay their respects Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
