Albert DeNunzio, Sr. Obituary

Albert A. DeNunzio, Sr., 96, Dunmore, died Tuesday evening in Regional Hospital of Scranton.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the former Jennie K. Mecca, in 2015.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late John and Anna Lalli DeNunzio (Margotta), he was a graduate of Dunmore High School and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore.  He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was active in military cleanup operations in Czechoslovakia, England, France, Germany, and Poland.  He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his tour of Europe.  Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Haddon Craftsman.

Surviving are sons David DeNunzio and wife Chris, Dover, PA; Albert DeNunzio, Jr. and wife Peggy, Dunmore; and William DeNunzio and wife Patty, Drums; daughter, Janet DeNunzio and husband Michael Joslyn, NYC; grandchildren, Jessica Siegfried and husband Jason, and Ben DeNunzio and wife Kristyn; great-grandchildren, Rylan, Keeley, and Jayce; his brother, Billy DeNunzio and wife Toni, Dunmore; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by several siblings.

In consideration of the pandemic, the funeral service will be privately held, however friends are invited to attend interment with military honors on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Dunmore Cemetery.  All those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery and respectfully wear masks while following the current social distancing recommendations.
