Albert J. "Butzy" Rosar Jr., 86, of Dunmore, passed away Saturday morning at the Green Ridge Care Center. He is survived by his wife, the former Madelyn Gianoni. They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on Oct. 19.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Albert J. Sr. and Winifred Tighe Rosar and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. Before retirement, he worked as a butcher for Brizer Beef and for the Dunmore School District in the maintenance department.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Butzy and his best friend, Earl Mickel, built a cabin together where they enjoyed spending their time. He was a quiet and soft-spoken man, a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lori Sabia and husband, William; and a son, Albert J. and wife, Sharon, all of Dunmore; grandchildren, Sarah and Jamie Rosar, Alec and Luke Sabia, Amanda Sedlek and husband, Michael, and Michael Sabia and wife, Jenna; great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Cameron Sedlek, Ozzie and Stella Sabia; sisters, Ann Caswell and Jane Zarick and husband, Joseph; a brother, Robert Rosar and wife, Connie, all of Dunmore; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, George Caswell.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
