Albert Louis Levy, 74, Scranton, died early Wednesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina Watkins Levy, five days earlier.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Harry and Cecelian Kruger Levy, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School class of 1967 and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Rider University and later earned his MBA from the University of Scranton. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as an accountant with D.G. Nicholas Co. in Scranton. He was a proud member of the Jewish Discovery Center in Waverly and loved going to synagogue, becoming even more active after he retired.
Albert was an avid reader who had a green thumb for indoor plants, enjoyed games and puzzles, especially Sudoku, and also liked to swim. He treasured his cats and his dog Ricky, and was an adoring Zaydee to his granddaughter, Gigi.
He loved listening to music, especially classic rock, and he and his wife Georgie always had fun going to see their favorite band, Friends of the Gypsy. The two did everything together, and he never wanted to be anywhere but at her side. They shared a one-of-a-kind, affectionate bond, brimming with playful banter, that made everyone smile.
Surviving is a daughter, Gwen Walsh and husband Maclain of Covington Twp.; granddaughter Georgina; his sister Ellen Holroyd of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law Myrna Watkins of Scranton; brother-in-law Robert Watkins and wife Judy of Scranton; nieces, nephews., and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Friday at noon in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Township, by Rabbi Benny Rapoport.
Friends will be received during a period of bereavement at the home of his daughter Gwen on Sunday from 2pm-4pm.
