Allan Sames Obituary

Allan Sames, 61, of Scranton, passed away Sunday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.  Born in Kingston, son of Carmella Giarratano Sames and the late Alfred Charles Sames who died in July of 2024, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Lackawanna County South Vo-Tech, Scranton, in which Allan studied auto mechanics and machinery, Class of 1982.

Previously employed at Chamberlain Corporation in Scranton followed by owning and operating Allan’s Auto Sales in Pittston for twenty years. He was currently employed at Pennsylvania American Water Company, Scranton.

From an extremely young age, Allan learned to operate mini gas motorcycles which lead into a lifetime love of Motocross. It also turned into him racing motorcycles, especially dirt and trail bikes. Allan raced, competed, and won many championships for Motocross District Six. Allan developed lifelong friends due to this sport. His other hobbies included High-End RC Cars and Mini Retro Gas Engines. Allan was a master when it came to working on anything with small motors.

Allan was an avid rescuer of German Shepards. He enjoyed many fun-filled years tending and caring for Sam, Bo, Krieger, and Jill. Each dog fell in love with Motocross as well. They would chase behind Allan on his bike, except for his girl, Jill.

Preceded in death along with his father, are his Uncle and Aunt Charlie and Suzanne of Pittston.

In addition to his mother, Carmella, he is survived by cousins, Frances Giarratano, Pittston; Susan Groom and her husband, William, Pittston; Charlene Giarratano and companion, Corey Paul Psolka, Pittston; Ross Giarratano and his wife, Staci, Hughestown; and many more in which he truly cherished.
