Angela Montaro Obituary

Angela Montaro, 88, Dunmore, died early Tuesday morning at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was the wife of Frank J. Montaro who died May 22, 2023. They had been married for 62 years.

Born in Cortale, Catanzaro Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Pauline Martelli Iania. She graduated high school in Italy and was a member of SS. Anthony & Rocco Parish in Dunmore.

Our mom was a kind, beautiful woman, inside and out with a strong faith who always had a smile on her face. She was calm, non-judgmental and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

She loved to cook for her family and loved her garden. There was never a time you walked into the house that she wasn’t standing at the stove cooking something. She welcomed many into our home for Sunday dinner and any other meal she was cooking.

She loved the casino, going to lunch with her friends and her Friday hair appointment.

We would like to thank our cousins Lottie and Denise Montaro and Chrissi Palermo for the care they provided for my mom over the last year. They made each day a happier one for her.

Surviving is a daughter Gina McGraw and her husband Robert, a son, Anthony Montaro and his wife Diana, a daughter-in-law, Susan Montaro, all of Dunmore, eight grandchildren, Nicole Nenish and her husband Michael, Angelo Montaro, Joseph Montaro, Frank Montaro and his companion Marissa McDermott, Dr. Maria Montaro and companion Jordan Hartman, Anthony Montaro, Jennifer Young and her husband Rod, and Emily Keating and her husband John, four great grandchildren, Morgan and Aria Nenish, Julia and Rod Young, a brother Thomas Iania, Winter Haven, FL,  nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Angela was preceded in death by her beloved son Ralph in 2006, a sister Teresa Carlo, and two brothers Anthony Iania and John Iania.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment to follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
