Angela B. Genovese went Home to be with the Lord on Friday.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie Mazzola Genovese, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and prior to retirement, had been employed as a loan officer with the First National Bank of Dunmore.
Angela was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt who adored her family and spending time with them. She greatly cherished going for walks with her sister, Louise. Throughout the years, she enjoyed helping to care for her canine “nieces and nephews.” She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and baking, and developed a great talent for painting. Her family proudly displays her work.
Angela steadfastly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When she was no longer able to attend Sunday worship, she listened to preachers on the radio and television. One of her favorite biblical passages is 2 Corinthians 5:8, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
She is survived by her sister and best friend, with whom she was inseparable, Louise Severini of Scranton, numerous nieces and nephews, numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, and cousins. She was particularly fond of grandniece Ceilia Severini, with whom she shared a special bond.
In addition to her parents, Angela was preceded in death by her siblings Victor Genovese and wife Grace; Ann Genovese; Joseph Genovese and wife Evelyn; Robert Genovese and wife Anna Jean; brother-in-law Joseph Severini, and a niece, Nancy Renna.
The family would like to especially thank niece Faith Severini and nephew-in-law Christopher Kresock, who for the past several years lovingly assisted Angela.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions in Angela’s memory be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
