Angela S. "Angie" (Maruzzelli) Tuffy

Angela S. "Angie" Tuffy, 85, of Dunmore, died Friday at home. She and her husband, Robert F. Tuffy Sr., the former Lackawanna County director of Veterans Affairs, celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary April 12, 2022.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Naro Maruzzelli. Angie was educated in Dunmore public schools and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore. She had formerly been employed in the garment manufacturing industry.

Her true passion was her family, whom she enjoyed cooking and baking for, as well as for her numerous friends who she shared many meals with.

Angie was very proud and dedicated in assisting her husband each Memorial Day with making floral vases for veterans' graves in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dunmore.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Drs. John and Craig Scanland for the loving care they gave to Angie, and they were also blessed by the staff of Allied Hospice, whose support was a gift we will never forget.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Diane Celano and husband, Mark; Donna Sweeney and husband, James; and a son, Robert Tuffy Jr., all of Dunmore; three grandchildren, Michael Celano, Dunmore; Cory Celano and wife, Masha, Philadelphia; and Katie Sweeney, Dunmore; a brother, Michael Maruzzelli and wife, Darlene, Lake Carey; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald; and several brothers and sisters.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.
