Angelina Raychel, 100, of Dunmore, passed away Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Raychel, in 1987.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John and Ann Menzler Costa, she was a graduate of Scranton public schools. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Capitol Records and the Globe Store. Angelina was a devout Catholic, being a lifelong member and supporter of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. She was an active member of the Dunmore Senior Center and especially enjoyed playing bingo. Her life was centered around her family, which included enjoying spending time with them, babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going out to eat. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her son, Daniel S. Raychel and wife, Diane, Dunmore; her caregiver and granddaughter, Melissa Raychel, and her two daughters, Danyelle and Shayna; additional grandchildren, William Domenick, Deann Domenick and Debra Domenick; as well several other great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, great nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ann L. Domenick Lasewicz; sister, Lucille Reckless; brother, Harold Costa; and nephew, John Reckless.
The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in the Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka.
All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.
