Ann Marie Noto Obituary

Ann Marie Noto, 95, a lifelong resident of Dunmore, died peacefully at home early Wednesday. Her husband, Salvatore J. Noto, Sr., died in 1968.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Zaccagnino Summa, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish.  Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Marywood University as a campus service worker in the housekeeping department.

A woman of many talents, Ann Marie brought beauty into the world as an artist, moved hearts as a singer and guitarist, and created with precision as a seamstress.  In her younger years, she sang with The Sunshine Trio with her sister Catherine DiMattio and her cousin Doris Coyer, successfully landing a spot on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour in New York City.  It was also through music that she met her beloved husband, Salvatore, who himself had found much success in the live entertainment scene throughout the region and beyond.  She could even be found accompanying him in his bands.

Ann Marie always enjoyed being surrounded by love and entertaining, whether it was welcoming friends in for some coffee, sharing a homecooked meal and desserts, or hosting holiday dinners.  Everyone was welcome.  Her kindness was reflected in her deep faith and steadfast devotion to God and her church.

Above all, Ann Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She adored her family and celebrated every one of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.  She was always so very proud of them.  She truly was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Salvatore J. Noto, Jr. and wife Deborah of Melbourne, FL; Deano Noto of Throop; Susan Montaro of Dunmore; and Nadine Noto of Dunmore; her sister, Catherine DiMattio and husband Louis of Dunmore; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Angela Costanzi, and son-in-law, Ralph Montaro.

Warm gratitude is extended to the caring nurses and staff with Hospice of the Sacred Heart who were compassionate and supportive to Ann Marie and her family during her times of need.  She, along with her family, were surrounded by kindness at every turn.  A special thank you to a dear friend of hers from SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish who faithfully administered the Eucharist to Ann Marie in the comfort of her home.

The funeral will be Tuesday, October 21st with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore.  All those attending are asked to go directly to the church that morning as there is no public viewing.

Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that contributions in Ann Marie’s name be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D. Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507; or to SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, 303 Smith Street, Dunmore, PA 18512.
