Annette Moskovitz Rice, formerly from Scranton and Waverly Twp., died Wednesday in Long View Nursing home in Manchester, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Alfred G. Rice, Jr., in 2016.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Freda Miller Moskovitz and the late Esther Miller Moskovitz. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, class of 1957, and received a B.A. in education in 1961 from Pennsylvania State University. During her career, she taught in numerous grades K-8 during her years in the Abington Heights School District before retiring.
Also surviving are children, A. Geoffrey Rice and wife, Mary, Manchester, Md.; Susan Rice and Dr. Daniel Coster, Moosic; and James Rice and wife, Dr. Ann Ullrich, Irvine, Calif.; grandchildren, Adam, Zachary and Alex Rice, Stacy Swayzee, and Ashley Fox; two great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jane Bennett and husband, Ross, Allen, Texas; and Janet Nogi Moskovitz, Clarks Summit; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Atty. Stuart Moskovitz.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 12 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, by Rabbi Daniel Swartz. Interment in Temple Hesed Cemetery, Dunmore.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Shiva will be observed at Camelot Restaurant & Inn at 17 Johnson Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, Thursday evening from 5 to7 p.m.
