Anthony Joseph Portanova, 88, of Dickson City, passed away Saturday at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton. His wife, the late Shirley Dolan Portanova, passed away Jan. 13, 2022. The couple had been married for 66 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Philip and Anna Mace Portanova and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to retirement, he was a laborer in the manufacturing industry.
Anthony was an avid and dedicated New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and New York Giants fan. He was a hard worker and a talented drummer. He was a selfless man with a big heart full of love and compassion. He was a loving and caring husband and father and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are a son, Anthony Portanova, Dunmore; daughters, Margaret Richmond and husband, Jerry, Nashville, Tenn.; and Patricia Callea and husband, Tom, Darby, Pa.; several nieces, nephews and cousins including a cousin, Stephanie.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Portanova.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 619 Dundaff St., Dickson City. Inurnment, Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
