Antoinette "Shizzy" Fox Obituary

Antoinette "Shizzy" Portanova Fox, Bunker Hill section of Dunmore, died Friday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of Robert W. Fox, who died in 2000.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Dominick and Angelina DiPaolo Portanova, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School and prior to retirement was employed by Morris White Fashions and Montage Food Service.

She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, and its Altar and Rosary Society. One of her enjoyments was helping stretch the pizza fritta dough at the annual SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish Italian Festival where she enjoyed the comradery of the other participating women and being in and observing the festival procession.

"Shizzy," as she was known to family and friends, was a beloved aunt and a devoted friend to all. She enjoyed being with her family on all occasions and just sitting on her front porch in Bunker Hill greeting neighbors and passersbys with her friendly nature.

She was more than an aunt to her many nieces, nephews, grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews as she treated them as if they were her own children with her gracious generosity.

Her family would like to thank her Bunker Hill family, neighbors and friends who were always there for "Shizzy" in her times of need. A special thank you to Linda Garzella Wishard who was her caregiver and more and who she considered as a daughter.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, Tana Alunni and husband, Paris; Dominic Portanova and wife, Cheryl; Frank Portanova and companion, Margaret; Anthony DeMola and wife, Karen; and Angela Foti and husband, Tony; grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews, Brian Alunni and wife, Jeannette, and their children, Rachel, Daniela, Paris and Katie; Tracey Milonopoulos and husband, Mike, and their children, Devan and Hailey; D.J. Portanova and wife, April, and their children, Mila and Ella; Stephanie McGarrity and husband, Michael, and son, Liam; Jon Portanova; Kim Schultz and husband, Glen, and their children, Jessie, Lauren and Charlie; Tony DeMola and wife, Mary, and their children, Madison, Cameron and Natalie; James DeMola and wife, Katie, and their children, Brooke and Travis; Paige DeMola and daughter, Aubree; Lisa Foti; and Christina Foti and her children, Owen and Noah.
