Arlene C. Richter, of Olyphant, quietly departed this life Sunday evening at Allied Hospice Center in Scranton. The daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Shahum Provini was born July 13, 1939 in Scranton. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School.
She was united in holy matrimony to Robert P. Richter Sr., who preceded her in death on April 8, 2011. The couple was married for 52 years and were blessed with two children. Surviving are sons, Ric Jr. and wife, Cathy, Peckville; and John and wife, Kathy, Scranton; grandchildren, John Jr.; Melissa Piraino and husband, Geoff; Tyler, Kelly; great-granddaughter, Penelope Piraino; sister-in-law, Elly Richter; beloved nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Arlene was an avid Penn State and New York Yankees fan. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking and hosting family dinners, and crafting. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the love of her life. She cherished her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family wishes to thank Joe and Dee Hawley, Diane Petrucci and her husband, Bob, Dr. Sheerer and his nurse, Sarah, the staff and nurses at Geisinger Community Medical Center and Allied Hospice for all of the care and compassion shown to Arlene.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Minello and her husband, Louis; and Marie Stelmak and husband, Nick; as well as her nephew, Nicky Stelmak.
