Barbara A. Garvey, 65, Dunmore, died Saturday at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Thomas E. Garvey who died June 10, 2022.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Masters Baron, was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and earned a Cosmetology degree from Empire Beauty School in Scranton. Barb was a kindhearted person who dedicated her life to caring for her family and loved ones, always putting others before herself. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with family and being a Mimi to her three granddaughters.
Surviving are daughters, Courtney Garvey, Shannon Garvey, and Katie Garvey and her partner Danny Ringleben, all of Dunmore, three brothers, Joseph Baron, Throop, Christoher Baron and wife Susan, Vandling, and Robert Baron and wife Lisa, Phillipsburg, NJ, three granddaughters, Brooklyn Layre, Isla Ringleben, and Vera Ringleben, all of Dunmore, as well as several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother William Baron in 2021.
The funeral will be Friday at 1PM at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore. Friends may visit from 11AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow the service in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in the Minooka Section of Scranton.
