Barbara Jean Petras

Barbara Jean Petras, 81, Dunmore, died Sunday at home.     

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John R. Sr. and Helen Klebon Gaul, she attended Scranton public schools and had been employed by Techneglas for over 20 years prior to her retirement.  Barbara loved puzzles and watching Jeopardy, and would also have fun placing a bet at the casinos.  She had a sassy and quick wit, and was always good for a joke.  She enjoyed holidays and family get-togethers, especially with her grandchildren, but when she was home, she could often be found watching IonTV, her favorite channel.

Surviving is her daughter Mary Lou Dubranski and partner Bill Hoffman, Scranton; grandchildren Amanda Reigart and husband Michael, York; Benjamin Smith, Charlotte, NC; Jane Smith and companion Guy Salerno, Blakely; Robert James Petras III, Old Forge; Alexis Petras, Old Forge, William Hoffman, Jr., Scranton; and Robert Hoffman, Scranton; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister Joan Ciuccoli, Justus; nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Petras, Jr. in 2023; her sisters Mary Lou Gallia and husband Joseph, and Janice Diddick and husband Harry, as well as her infant brother, John R. Gaul, Jr.
