Bernice Ecker, 92, formerly of Scranton, died Sunday in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irving Ecker, in 2011.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Abraham and Esther Steinberg Pikarsky, she was a graduate of Coughlin High School and prior to retirement had been employed as a secretary for the JCC in Scranton. A former member of Beth Shalom Congregation, she enjoyed Mahjongg and bingo.
Surviving is her son, Elliot Ecker and wife Marjorie, Archbald; granddaughter Alyssa Rose Ecker and husband James McAleese, Phila.; great-grandchildren Harper James and Archer Elliot; brother-in-law Marvin Ecker, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10th at noon in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery.
Friends will be received during shiva at Elan Gardens Tuesday evening from 4-6 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elan Gardens, S. Abington Twp.
