Beulah Bishop died on Sunday, December 8 in Aventura, Florida just 5 months shy of her 103rd birthday.
Beulah was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1922 as the daughter of Sam and Fanny Gandell, moved to Allentown as a young girl along with her younger sisters, the late Judy Gershman and Renee Barson, and while in high school moved to Hazleton where she graduated from Hazleton High School in 1940. She married Abraham Bishop in 1941 and had a very happy marriage for 68 years.
Having lived in Hazleton until retiring and moving to Florida in 1978 she is the mother of Atty. Richard S. Bishop of Scranton (married to Faye K. Bishop), Janis Block (married to Dr. Barry Block) and Rosanne Namm (married to Michael Namm). She will be missed by her grandchildren, David S. Bishop (married to Deirdre Bishop), Atty. Stefanie Traub (married to Dr. Darren Traub) and Craig S. Bishop (married to Alex Woody), and her great-grandchildren, Fiona R. Bishop, Cece Traub, and Charlotte Traub.
The funeral took place at the Star of David Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida.
Shivah will be observed on Thursday, December 12 at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation at 1101 Vine Street, Scranton, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
