Carl E. Yadouga, PE, 95, of South Abington Township, passed away on Friday, May 28th, 2021 at Abington Manor following a brief (non-Covid) illness.
Carl was born in Scranton, the son of Anthony and Mary Hvasta Yadouga. Following his graduation from Scranton Tech High School, Carl answered the call to serve his country in WWII, becoming an Army Paratrooper with the 17th Airborne. Carl fought in the European Theater and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Following his service, Carl began his career in mechanical engineering with Gilboy & O’Malley in 1948. He answered the call of duty again, reenlisting during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He then resumed his engineering career, becoming licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Professional Engineer, working with several firms in the area including GSGSB and Highland Associates, and finally retired from active consulting at the age of 90 from PennEastern.
He is survived by his nephew and caregiver, Robert Yadouga and his wife, Michelle, sister-in-law Sandra Yadouga, nephews Leland, David and Frank Yadouga, and additional nephews, nieces and cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph, Thomas, Francis and Paul, and sisters-in-law Theresa Yadouga, Carol Yadouga and Arline Yadouga.
The family would like to thank the staff at Abington Manor for their kindness and compassionate care of Carl during his final weeks.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore by Msgr. John J. Sempa, pastor of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston. Internment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. All those attending are asked to comply with current safety regulations in wearing a mask and social distancing.
As Carl’s military service was such an important part of Carl’s life, his family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the veterans’ charity of the donor’s choice.
