Carmella (Millie) Morelli passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 at Allied Services Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Scranton. She was 97 years old.
Millie was born in 1927 to the late Antonio and Caroline (Muracco) Morelli. She was the eleventh child of twelve. She is preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, Casper, Connie (Fiorenza), Mary (Greco), John (Jake), Joseph, Catherine (Marsh), Salvatore, Flory, Jean (Sabia), Anna (Bouselli), and Anthony as well as her nephews, John (Sabia), Anthony (Morelli), John (Greco), John Morelli, and niece Kathy Morelli (Figured).
Millie is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, including her care takers of the past few years, great-nieces, Amy Ferguson and Kimberly Ahern, Dunmore.
Millie was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Dunmore. She was a 1945 graduate of Dunmore High School. During WWII, Millie made parachutes for American paratroopers who fought in the European theater. Following the War, she worked in a textile factory, becoming a forewoman before retiring.
She was a lifelong, proud Democrat who voted in every election since 1945. She was fiercely loyal and loving. She was the life of every party and was proud to be an aunt to four generations of nieces and nephews, as well as in extension, multi-generations of their friends. Millie enjoyed life to the fullest and was independent for 95 of her 97 years. She danced every weekend into her 80’s. She enjoyed the 90th birthday party her nieces Ann Marie (Ferguson) and Mary Ann (Weed) gave her, surrounded by more than 80 family members who came to celebrate the extraordinary life of their aunt.
Millie will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She made an indelible mark on anyone who was lucky enough to be near her. Her independent spirit, strong work ethic, and infectious love of life will remain a guiding example on how to live life to its fullest.
The family would like to thank Allied Services, specifically the staff on 3 North and Allied Hospice Unit for their compassionate care of Millie.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. in Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St. in Dunmore.
