Carol Ann Iannielli, 83, a proud lifelong resident of Dunmore, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday afternoon. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donato “Danny” Iannielli. The couple would have celebrated 59 years of marriage in July.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Skubik DeMarco. She was a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish and was a proud graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1957 where she served as Class Secretary. Upon graduation she was a member of the Reunion Committee.
In her earlier years, Carol worked at Harper and Row where she made life-long friends and prior to retirement she was the secretary/treasurer for the family business at Sheeley’s Drug Store for 50 years.
Carol was a member of the ANO (Another Night Out) Bowling League for over 40 years and enjoyed playing racquetball, golf and softball where she was the 2nd baseman for Sheeley’s Woman and Moms team. She was an avid New York Yankee and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She enjoyed Brigantine Beach, traveling and going to the casinos. Affectionately known as” Thelma and Louise”, she and her best friend Nancy traveled cross country several times. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Caroline, Laurie, Zenetra and Stephanie for all of their care and compassion over the past few years.
Also surviving are daughters, Lori Hart and husband Tom, Dunmore, Dana Zimmer and husband Clay, Philadelphia and Cara Lowe and husband Chris, Dunmore. Grandchildren, Christopher and Mia Lowe, Thomas and Nico Hart, Ava and Chase Zimmer. Sisters-in-law, Rose and Grace DeMarco, Dunmore. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Francis and Joseph DeMarco; sister-in-law, Teresa Iannielli, brother-in-law, Vito Iannielli; and dear friends, Diane Forgione and Nancy Lyons.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.
Interment, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
