Carole Fishbein, formerly of Scranton, died Friday at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Vito Schwendemann, Easton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, in 2011.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Rose Speckler. Before retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper in the garment industry. She was a resident of Webster Towers while living in Scranton, and was a member of the Jewish Community Center where she was active with the Senior Adults and had written several articles for its newspaper, The Reporter. Carole had been an active volunteer at the Jewish Home, the Blind Association and numerous other organizations.
Also surviving are a daughter, Holly Fishbein, Los Angeles; two grandsons, David and Justin Schwendemann; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Adam Fishbein.
A graveside funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Yaacov Bilus.
