Catherine A. Alu, 90, Dunmore, died early Friday morning in Dunmore Health Care Center. She and her husband, the late Donato “Dick” Alu, had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Paolantonio Errico and was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1952. Catherine was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore, it’s Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of its choir for over 52 years. She was also a member of the Dunmore Community Chorus for many years. She will be remembered for being a woman of great faith, the most wonderful baker, a beautiful singer and for her never-ending love of her family
Surviving is a son, Donato C. Alu, Jr. and wife Jean Marie, Dunmore, grandchildren, Danielle Marcinek and her husband Mike, Peckville, Anthony Alu and his wife Jennifer, Clarks Green, and Alexis Bennett and her husband John, New York City, four great grandchildren, Scarlett, Amelia, Calogero, and William, a brother, John Errico and his wife Mary Ellen, Dunmore, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Canio and his wife Philomena and Gary and his wife Catherine.
The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Interment will follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.
