Catherine "Cathy" Beckage

Catherine Del Rosso Beckage, "Cathy", 67 passed away Monday after battling an illness. Cathy was the daughter of the late Gerard D. and Murlene Del Rosso. She is survived by her husband Richard; son Stephen and daughter in law Hannah; and son Michael. She is also survived by siblings Esther, Jane, Gerard Jr, and (Ralph) Daniel.

Cathy was born in Fayetteville, N.C., and raised in Jacksonville, N.C., before moving to Dunmore with her family at a young age. She was a graduate of Bishop O'Hara High School, where she met Richard "Phebe" Beckage, her future husband of 46 years. They married in 1977 and had two children: Stephen in 1988 and Michael in 1991. 

Cathy was a hard-working mother who exercised great care and love in all she did. She was an accomplished professional in various fields, and an award-winning typist. She loved to be outdoors, and cherished opportunities to enjoy gardening, camping, and visiting the beach with friends. A woman of faith and integrity, Cathy loved her family dearly and took great joy in sharing meals, music, and memories with them over the course of her life. Her warm spirit touched many.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday June 15 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Dunmore, 322 Chestnut Street. Mass will be followed by a memorial luncheon at Stirna's in North Scranton, 120 West Market Street.
