Charles “Charlie” Simon, 83, of West Scranton, died on Friday at Mt. View Care Center, Scranton. He was the loving and devoted husband of Joanna Cianci Simon. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 17, 2023.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William “Dewey”, Sr. and Eva Simon and attended the West Scranton public schools. Prior to retirement, he worked at Walker Carpet as a salesman. He was a member of St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church in West Scranton.
Charlie as we called him was a jack of all trades starting out as a carpet installer, carpet cleaner and then his own carpet cleaning business for several years. He loved having his family over for every occasion and holiday and enjoyed cooking and watching everyone enjoy. He was a great chef who would love to teach you how to cook anything. He loved working at the church fundraiser making traditional Lebanese foods. He eventually opened his own little restaurant called Charlie’s on Main Ave. in West Side. He served breakfast and lunch specials. He loved to smile and make people laugh and he had a real good audience at the restaurant for family and friends alike.
The family would like to thank Dr. McKenna and the staff at Life Geisinger and also the staff at Mt. View Care Center for such great care and concern.
