Christopher Joseph Gurnari, 55, of Scranton, died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Lori Warner.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Anthony F. Gurnari and Evelyn Gurnari Snyder, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School class of 1985 and was the former owner of Charlie's Diner in West Scranton. He was a great cook who made the best omelets. He was a loving father and grandfather with a big heart and great personality. He was always good for a laugh and a joke. He was an avid Steelers and Yankees fan, and even coached his children's baseball teams.
Also surviving are a daughter, Ashley Gurnari; and son, Christopher Anthony Gurnari, both of Scranton; granddaughter, Alaina Buchanan, Scranton; brothers, Anthony Gurnari and partner, Jean Geary; Donald Gurnari and wife, Sharon; and Jack Gurnari and wife, Maureen, all of Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susan Svweltowics.
A blessing service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Cathedral Cemetery, 1708 Oram St., Scranton, with interment to follow. All those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
