Daniel C. Evans, 60, Glenolden, PA, formerly of West Scranton, passed away Sunday night unexpectedly at home.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Daniel and Angela Notartomas Evans, he graduated with honors from West Scranton High School Class of 1978 where he was part of their wrestling team, and went on to attend the University of Scranton. Daniel was an outstanding wrestler, making it to districts, regionals, and states during his high school career. He had been employed by the W&O Supply Company in Philadelphia for over 25 years where he served as salesman and manager. A devout Catholic, he was active in many charities in Delaware County. He was a member of the West Side Boys Club and played Farm League for Gemma's Pizza for which his dad was the coach. An avid Red Sox fan, Daniel enjoyed attending games at Fenway Park. He also loved fishing and enjoyed the outdoors. He forever cherished his entire family, and was especially devoted to his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his sisters, Barbara Giambrone and husband Frank, Scranton; Judy Basile and husband William, Scranton; and Nancy Grandinette, Rock Hill, SC; his brothers Andrew Evans, Scranton; Steve Evans and wife Nancy, Old Forge; Christopher Evans and wife Amy, Hughestown; and Richard Evans of San Diego, CA; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Evans.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church, Scranton St., West Scranton. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. All those attending are asked to follow current safety guidelines in respect to wearing a mask and social distancing.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
