Danny Higgins, 51, lifelong resident of Dunmore, died tragically early Friday morning in an accidental electrical fire at his home.
Born in Scranton on November 6, 1973 to the late James and Mary Clare Foley Higgins. His mother preceded him in death 16 days prior on December 4th. Dan was a graduate of the former Bishop O’Hara High School in Dunmore Class of 1993 and worked alongside his uncle Joe in the construction business. Danny will always be remembered as a loyal son, brother, nephew, funcle, cousin and great friend to many. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was the most unselfish person and would help his friends and family with the smallest things to the most important things in their lives. His wit and humor was second to none and could always brighten up any room he entered. He was a one-of-a-kind person who was fiercely loyal and protective of his loved ones. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and were touched by his small acts of kindness.
Surviving are his siblings, Shannon Hopkins and husband Brad of South Abington Township; Jamie Higgins and wife Michelle of Jessup; and Tim Higgins and wife Cheryl of Avoca; nephews, Michael Higgins and his wife Alexandra of Throop; Drew of Jessup; and Timmy, Brennan, Colin, and Bodie of Avoca; a great niece, Emma Higgins of Throop; aunts, Judy Mawn of Dunmore, Annie Yauch and her husband John of Verona, NJ, Sally Mastri and her husband Tom, Elmhurst and Mary Gilhooley and her husband Jim, Dunmore; uncles, Jack Foley and his wife Sarah and James Foley and his wife Mary, all of Factoryville; Jerome Foley of Pocono Pines; and Joseph Foley of Scranton; as well as his best friends Matt D’Angelo and Tommy Herron.
