David Francis “Spike” Hubshman, 59, of Dunmore, died Thursday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Robert X. “Izzy” and Ann Cravath Hubshman, he was a graduate of Bishop Klonowski High School Class of 1980, and had worked for the Dunmore Borough DPW for over 20 years. He had also owned Hubshman’s Lounge on Drinker Street prior to his employment with the borough. David was a great bowler who had his first perfect game at age 12, and bowled in The Times Major League while still in high school. He loved the New York Jets and going to the Roosey with his friends.
His family wishes to thank the staff of Green Ridge Health Care and Hospice of the Sacred Heart Impatient Unit Dunmore for all of their care and compassion shown toward David.
Surviving are his sisters, Maggie Grasso and husband Tony of Scranton and Annie Rinaldi and companion Brendan Wilson of Dunmore; his brothers, Jack Hubshman and wife Rita of Scranton, Bob Hubshman and wife Pam of Taylor, Jerry Hubshman of Dunmore, Mark Hubshman of Gouldsboro, and Bernie Hubshman and wife Laura of Scranton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Rose.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.
Friends may call Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
