Donald A. Love, 85, of Scranton, passed away Wednesday morning at Allied Hospice Center in Scranton. He would have turned 86 on Thanksgiving Day. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Margaret Walters.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Allison and Elizabeth Peters Love. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1954. He served in both the Army and Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a Scranton firefighter for 26 years, retiring at the rank of chauffer. He proudly served as a past president of the Scranton Retired Firefighters Association.
Don was a dedicated family man who put everyone before himself. His grandchildren were the light of his life, playing an active role in their upbringing. He spent the past few years devoting himself to the care of his wife on her journey through Alzheimer's Disease. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Also surviving are daughters, Linda Gray and partner Mike Priller, Florida, and Alison Shea, Scranton. A son, David, Jefferson Twp. Grandchildren, Jennifer Shea, Scranton; Ryan Gray, Rhode Island; Sierra Love, Elmhusrt, and Brandi Love, New Jersey. A great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Leuthe.
The funeral will be Monday from Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St, Dunmore with a service at 11:00am in the funeral home.
Entombment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may visit on Monday from 9:00am until the time of the service.
