Donald J. "Donnie" Sherman, 75, a resident of West Mountain in Scranton, died Thursday morning at home unexpectedly. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Howells.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Alfred and Emily Marsh Sherman and attended West Scranton High School. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran, and before retirement, he was a United States postal carrier in the Taylor area for 35-plus years. Donnie would do anything for anyone and was loved by many. He especially loved his grandsons, Mark Jr. and Max Snyder. They were the pride and joy of his life. Donnie was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather and brother who will be missed very much by all of us.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepdaughters, Shelly, Taylor; and Jennifer and son-in-law, Mark Snyder, Scranton; his beloved grandsons, Mark Jr. and Max Snyder; his twin brother and best friend, Dave and wife, Ann, Scranton; a brother, Al and wife, Joanie, Scranton; his sisters, Emily and husband, Lenny, Scranton; and Trudy Cleaver, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces and nephews. Donnie was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Sherman.
