Douglas Robert Thomas Kolbe, 72, of Gouldsboro, passed away on Friday morning at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton after a courageous battle with COPD and cancer. He is survived by his wife, the former Gloria Catella. The couple had been married for 28 years.
Born in S. Plainfield, New Jersey, he was the son of Gloria Stoetzel and the late Douglas Mountford Kolbe. He was a graduate of Middletown, New Jersey High School Class of 1972 and was a chief tug boat engineer for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company. He was a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association.
Also surviving is a step-son, Benjamin Maxwell and wife Juliette, Staten Island. A sister, Paula Lang and husband Sam, New York, New York. A brother, Russell Kolbe and wife Heidi, North Carolina. A brother-in-law, Paul Hudson. Beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Laurel Hudson.
There are no public services.
