It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Erroll J. Goldstein, due to end stage kidney disease.
He was born in 1950, on Long Island, New York, the son of the late Seymour and Ruth Goldstein. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Upon graduation, he moved to Lille, France, where he pursued and received his medical degree. After completing his residency in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the University of Chicago, he and his former wife Marian, settled in the Scranton area, with their children Simon and Alana. His practice grew quickly, and over the years, he delivered more than 7,000 babies in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. He was always proud to say that he delivered multiple generations. He was a caring and compassionate physician, who was always at his patients’ side through their greatest joys and deepest sorrows.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son Simon, and his sister Cheryl Goldstein Swift.
He is survived by his cherished daughter Alana Goldstein (New York) who was by his side when he passed; his niece Sasha Swift and nephew Seth Swift, and many cousins.
He wished to express his gratitude to the staff at Elan Gardens, and Compassionate Hospice Care. He was grateful for the unwavering support and friendship of Harris Cutler and family, and Robin and Stan Edwards.
A funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore by Rabbi Miriam Spitzer and Cantor Vladimir Aronzon.
The family will receive visitors today from noon until the time of service. All visitors are kindly asked to wear a mask.
Interment in Temple Israel Cemetery, Dunmore.
In lieu of flowers, his daughter Alana requests memorial contributions be made to Planned Parenthood or organization of their choice.
Due to the onset of Yom Kippur Wednesday evening, Shiva will be only observed Tuesday 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the home of Marian and Gary Beckhorn, 202 Watres Drive, Scranton, PA 18505. If you wish to visit with Alana after the Holiday, please contact her to make arrangements.
