E. Robert Feibus Obituary

E. Robert Feibus, 88, Clarks Summit, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 3. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Barbara, in 1990.

Born in Scranton on March 4, 1936, Bob was the son of the late Max and Ethel (Fragin) Feibus. He was a 1954 graduate of Scranton Central High School and a 1958 graduate of The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. Upon graduation from Wharton, Bob returned home to Scranton, married his high school sweetheart Barbara and settled in the Hill Section where they raised their two children. When Barbara took ill with debilitating Multiple Sclerosis, Bob made sure she wanted for nothing and that she received the best care during her 10-year battle with the disease.

Bob was an amazing father and grandfather. The love that he showed his family was evident in the way he was always there for them. Every conversation began with him asking how they were doing and ended with I love you. He was incredibly proud of each of his grandchildren and would always boast about their accomplishments.

Bob was a successful businessman. He started his career working for his family business, Feibus & Gordon, before the company moved south. He stayed in Scranton because he didn’t want to move Barbara away from her family and friends. He then went to work at Neuropedic Mattress as vice-president, was owner of Helen Schwartz Gifts and finally was a commercial realtor for Coldwell Banker, partnering with his nephew Rich until Bob retired in 2022. Many of Bob’s real estate clients knew him as “Uncle Bob,” an honest, fair, and trustworthy realtor.

Bob is survived by his children, Margery Gleason, Clarks Summit; Arthur Feibus and wife Nancy, West Palm Beach FL.; four grandchildren, Daniel Gleason and wife Brigid, Washington, DC; Kelsey Gleason, Archbald; Andrew and Brian Feibus, Miami, FL.; and several cousins. Bob also leaves behind his beloved dog Bailey, who brought him nothing but joy these last years.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son-in-law Patrick Gleason, his brother Lionel, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bob will be honored at a private graveside funeral service.
