Edward J. Walsh, passed away peacefully on Friday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born February 6, 1935, in the “Notch” section of Scranton, he was the son of the late Marie Barrett Walsh and Stephen Walsh. He was educated in North Scranton schools, attending North Scranton Junior High and later Scranton Technical School.
In 1952, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Haydes stationed in the Mediterranean.
Upon returning home, he built a long and steady career as a heavy‑duty truck and auto mechanic, a trade he mastered through determination and natural talent. He worked in the field until his retirement.
In addition to his wife Caroline Fiore Walsh, Edward is survived by his sister Helen Tarnosky of Olyphant, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Steele and Louise Webb; his brother, Stephen Walsh; and his brother‑in‑law, Norman Steele.
The family would like to share their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care and compassion shown to Edward.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
