Elaine Litterio Obituary

Elaine C. Litterio, 79, of Dunmore, passed away Friday evening at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore. Surviving is her loyal and loving husband, Louis P. Litterio, to whom she was married for 55 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Claire Taugher Sheridan. Elaine was a graduate of the former South Scranton Catholic High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore. Prior to retirement, she was a customer service manager at Harper-Collins Publishing where she was employed for over 44 years. For many years Elaine and Lou enjoyed running, going to the Jersey Shore and traveling to Marco Island, Florida. Elaine enjoyed walking, spending time with friends, was a tremendous cook and avid reader sharing her love of books by gifting them to her nieces and nephews. Having no children of her own, she was like a mother to her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Elaine was a very generous, giving person who gave not only to several charities, but endlessly gave gifts to everyone she loved, never wanting anything in return. She will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Sharon Kroll and husband, Rick; Donna Wilson and husband, John, all of Long Island, N.Y.; Denise Silfee and husband, Clarence, Scranton; and Lisa Bender and husband, Joseph, South Carolina; Dr. James Masters, Stewartsville, N.J.; Mark Masters and wife, Brenda, Dunmore; and Sonya Masters, New Jersey; sisters-in-law, Marie Masters, Dunmore; and Gloria Sheridan, Moosic; great-nieces and great-nephews, Christian and Chloe Wilson, Stephanie Silfee, Joseph Bender, Marisa Marna, Christian, Joshua, Emmanuel and Alethia Masters.
Elaine was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Heppler; and brother, Robert Sheridan; her niece, Sandra Salz; her father- and mother in-law, Sabino and Florence Litterio; and brothers-in-law, George Heppler and James H. Masters.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore.
Family and Friends may pay their respects Friday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is private at the convenience of the family in Dunmore Cemetery.
