Elaine "Cookie" Moore Obituary

Elaine “Cookie” Moore, 84, a lifelong resident of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on Monday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Cookie was a faithful servant of God, which was never more evident than with the sudden death of her son, Donny, in 2003. Cookie found solace in her faith and the church to move forward during that unbelievably difficult time. She took so much pride in serving as a Eucharistic minister at her beloved SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, where she was a lifelong member. Unfortunately, after her stroke in 2018, she was no longer physically able to serve in that capacity.
Her family meant the world to her and she never missed an opportunity to support their endeavors. Whether following her husband as he embarked on local and state level Little League coaching and administrative volunteering, her son coaching baseball and football, or her daughter’s playing and coaching career, Cookie was always there encouraging all involved.
Cookie was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Susan Parola. She was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband of 55 years, Donald Moore Sr., in 2015. She was also predeceased by her adoring son, Donald Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., who was her best friend and caretaker the last few years. Also surviving are her sister, Dianna Gammaitoni, of Dunmore; and brother-in-law, Carl Gammaitoni, of Archbald; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank all of our friends who helped with Cookie’s care during the last few months. It is with a grateful heart that we thank, Julie, Carla, Jolane, Sandy, Judy and Marge for all of the love, support and visits, especially as she was cared for at home. All of the time shared and dinners were greatly appreciated and Mom so loved the time we spent together. To all of our visitors during her hospice stay, we are eternally grateful. We are definitely blessed with so many caring family and friends.
The family would also like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the unbelievable care and compassion during the last few weeks. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful facility in our community.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church on Friday morning.
Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family asks that no flowers be delivered to the funeral home, as there is a severe allergy in the family. If you would like to make a donation in Cookie’s name, please make those to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA, 18510; or to SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, 303 Smith St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
