Elizabeth “Betty” McDonald Cuff, 92, Dunmore, died Thursday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Patrick J. Cuff, who died in 1975.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve Roche McDonald, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Prior to retirement, she had been employed at Hess’ Department Store and later Scranton Primary Health. A member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, she served as Eucharistic Minister to those homebound and in nursing facilities. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years as well as volunteered with Mercy Hospice for 15 years. Betty was a member of the MAC Club and the Dunmore VFW.
She is survived by four children, Mary Cummings and husband Jack, Brick, NJ; Patrick Cuff and wife Cheryl, Moscow; Laura Burke and husband Thomas, El Dorado Hills, CA; and Robert Cuff and wife Sharon, Dunmore; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Romaine Cuff, PA; numerous nieces and nephews whose love and companionship sustained her.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph “Tippy” McDonald and Thomas McDonald.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Allied Terrace for the extraordinary care and kindness shown to Betty.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
