Evelyn “Evie” Yanusas. West Mountain, passed away on February 12, 2021. She and her husband, Joseph were married on April 11, 1959 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael and Mary Homa Komora, she attended Dunmore High School and graduated from Scranton Technical High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Supermarket Service Corp. as an administrative assistant. She was a bowler in the former Scranton Tribune and Scrantonian Classic Bowling Leagues. She was also a member of the West Side Senior Center, Young at Heart Chorus, and St. Lucy’s Choir.
Evie will be remembered for her dedication to family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Christopher Yanusas, PhD. and his wife Anna, Harpursville, NY; and a daughter, Sharon and husband Jerry Yarem, PhD., Apex, NC; and five grandchildren, Kyra, Kailey, and Kady Yanusas, Alex and Alyssa Yarem as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Helen Mielo, Irene Manalas, and Anna Meehan; five brothers, Joseph, Steve, Edward, Frank, and Michael Komora.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Allied Services Skilled Nursing for all of the kindness and compassion shown to Evie during her times of need.
Services will be privately held with interment at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery, Throop.
