Flourance J. (Jack) Donahue Obituary

Flourance John (Jack) Donahue, 82, Scranton, died Tuesday at Allied Service Hospice Center, Scranton.  He shared 31 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Elaine Fordiani Donahue.

Born in West Hazleton, son of the late Larry and Mary Donahue, he was a graduate of St. Gabriel’s High School in Hazleton and went on to join the U.S. Air Force where he served 5 years active duty at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas.  After active duty, he graduated from Penn State with a degree in business and finance.  He worked for Allied Chemical in Baltimore for 2 years before moving to Scranton, where he was employed at the State Unemployment Office for 30 years until his retirement.  After his retirement, Jack went to work at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton for 16 years as a transporter, where he loved talking and joking with patients and staff.  He enjoyed cooking, dinners, and traveling, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his 8 grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Brian (Diane), Scranton; stepdaughters Julie Maloney (Jamie), and Sherri Jones, all of Scranton; daughter-in-law Valerie Fetchen (Ed), Greentown; grandchildren Mathew, Noah, and Emily Donahue (fiancé Caleb Tratten), Taylor Fiume (Tyler) and their soon to be born baby girl, Madison Maloney, Emma and Dylan Jones, and Tristan Donahue; his siblings Jerry Donahue (Judy), Cathy Greybosh, Dennis Donahue (Cindy) and sister-in-law Debbie Donahue.

Jack was preceded in death by his son Timothy Donahue, his brother Patrick Donahue, his brother-in-law John Greybosh, his nephew Michael Donahue, and stepsisters Florence Reinhardt and Mary Clare Hanley.

A funeral mass will be held at a later date.
