Frank A. "Frankie" DePietro

Frank A. “Frankie” DePietro, 53, Dunmore, died Thursday afternoon at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton after being stricken ill at home. 

Born in Scranton, the kind and loving son of Judy A. Donnini DePietro of Dunmore and the late Thomas F. “Chick” DePietro who died earlier this month, Frankie was a graduate of Dunmore High School and went on to the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science where he attained his degree and later opened The Medicine Shoppe in Moscow.  He enjoyed watching all sports, but his favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Flyers, Penn State Football, and of course, he was especially proud of the Dunmore Bucks.  Frankie was also an Eagle Scout and animal lover, and was particularly fond of the family dog Cole, who is affectionately known as “Taz.” 

In addition to his mother, Judy, he is survived by his daughter Danielle DePietro, Dunmore, whom he absolutely adored; his sisters Janelle Hampton and husband David of Dunmore and their daughter Devyn who was also Frankie’s goddaughter, and Julie Wawrzynski and husband Joe of Elmhurst Township; his brother Tommy DePietro; maternal grandmother Marie Donnini of Dunmore; aunts, uncles, great-aunts, a great-uncle, and numerous cousins.

As well as his father “Chick” DePietro, Frankie was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Fred Donnini, and paternal grandparents Frank L. “Chick” and Louise M. Caputo DePietro.

Services were privately held under the care of Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., Dunmore.
