Gerald “Jerry” Brace, 78, of Dunmore, passed away Friday, April 15 at Sacred Heart Hospice, Dunmore surrounded by his loving family. His devoted wife of 56 years is the former Ruth “Rudi” Manley.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Alberta and Joseph Strojek, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical School. After graduation, he served in the Army reserves. Before retirement, he was a machinist for McKinney Manufacturing.
Jerry was an avid reader and also enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. His love of baseball came from his many years of coaching his sons’ baseball teams at Schautz Stadium. Jerry was also a coin enthusiast and enjoyed collecting coins and attending coin shows. After retirement, he enjoyed getting together with his old friends and he especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are his two sons, Gerald Jr and wife Patricia; and Christopher and wife Susan; five grandchildren, Matthew, Collin, Dillon, Elizabeth, and Megan. He also leaves behind a beloved sister, Joann Flyte, and several nieces and nephews.
A blessing service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7pm at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore.
Friends may call from 5pm until the time of the service.
