Gerard F. “Jerry” Gallagher, 83, of Clarks Summit, died early Wednesday at Allied Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, the former Barbara Haines, who died in 2010.
Born in Scranton, son of the late George and Elizabeth Heffron Gallagher, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and prior to retirement he worked as an elevator constructor with the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 84.
Jerry was an avid golfer and sports fan, but above all, he was the biggest fan of his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was so extremely proud of them.
Surviving are his sons, Jeff Gallagher and wife Desiree, and Mark Gallagher and husband Donald; grandkids Grace Gallagher and husband Evan Karli, Jeff Gallagher, Ted Gallagher, and Dean Gallagher; his brother Jim Gallagher; and sister Mazie Gentile; as well as extended family members and a host of friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diana, his sister, Kay Bingham, and his brother, Bill Gallagher.
All services and interment in Abington Hills Cemetery will be privately held.
