Gerard W. “Pudge” Perry, 64, of Dunmore, died Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former, Elaine C. Chiaro, in 2006.
Born in Scranton, son of Ann Solimine Perry, Dunmore, and the late Gerard B. Perry, he was a 1974 graduate of Dunmore High School. Pudge was the owner of G. Perry Builders, Inc., Dunmore, as well as The Wood Grille, North Scranton. A golf enthusiast, he was a member of Elmhurst Country Club and “DAGL”.
Pudge liked to keep busy, but in his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his “bosses”, his granddaughter and grandson. He had fun and laughter with his wife and friends on many trips to Las Vegas and Puerto Rico. He also enjoyed spending time at his restaurant with his extended Wood Grille family. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
Also surviving are his daughters, Nicole Perry, Dunmore, Stephanie Marsteller, and husband Andrew, Roaring Brook Township, and Jessica Perry, Dunmore; sisters, Lori Bagnick, and husband Dr. Joseph, Chalfont, PA, Marianne Perry, Coconut Creek, FL, and Jennifer McNeff, and husband John “Bud”, Dunmore; a brother, Atty. Michael “Mickey” Perry, and wife Cindy O’ Donnell Perry, Dunmore; grandchildren Lainey and James Marsteller, as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St, Dunmore. Interment will follow in the Dunmore Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. for those who are unable to attend the mass. Due to our current pandemic, all those attending are kindly and respectfully asked to socially distance without direct contact while giving condolences and are required to wear a mask.
