Gerardo Teodoro Liñan Saenz

Gerardo Teodoro Liñan Saenz, age 89, formerly of Dunmore, Pa., passed away on his date of birth, Jan. 30, 2021. Gerardo’s life was and still is full of great successes including his love and patriotism for his country of Peru. Graduating from high school in the year 1952 followed by attending college from 1953-1957, he received his degree in civil engineering and in his proudest career moment worked as the national manager director of immigration for Peru.
Gerardo grew to marry and become a honorable husband for 65 years alongside his soul mate, Nelly Pereda de Liñan, who lives at the side of their four children, Gerardo Giovanni Liñan Jr., Nelly Gisella Liñan Pereda, Ruth Liliana Liñan de Molla and Virginia Carola Liñan. Gerardo’s greatest values in life were his family and taking part in every single member’s life.
Gerardo loved every single person in his bloodline and took pride in having such a big and united family, which was always a trait instilled by him. From all of his children Gerardo had six grandchildren (Fiorella, Vanessa, Gerard, Meylin, Chabely and Fabrizio) whom have given him eight great-grandchildren (Milagros, Isaias, Caleb, Zoe, Valentina, Thiago, Elania and Andres) and a ninth great-grandchild who he had yet to meet. His passing has been an extreme hardship to the immediate family, someone whom resembled such unity compassion and selflessness will never be replaced.
The memories we will have for a lifetime include his involvement in raising all grandchildren and the legacy they see he left as the epitome of hard work. We will also cherish his never ending will to learn English, his contagious sense of humor, his dancing shoes that always started the party, his silence that became well known as a plate of food would be in his presence, and above all the individual love that he had for every single one of us. As a family we have but one thing left to say, “keep on Caballeo viejo (old horse).”
