Glenn Dougherty Obituary

Glenn E. Dougherty, 74, of Scranton died Monday evening at home.  He is survived by his wife, the former Diane Fiore.  The couple celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on August 1st.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Emery and Ann Miskovich Dougherty, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, Class of 1965, and graduated Keystone Junior College and West Chester University with a degree in History.

Glenn retired from UPS in 2007 after over 27 years in the transportation industry which also included Roadway Trucking, Lyons Trucking and Overnight Transportation.

After retirement, he worked for the Scranton School District as a school safety hall monitor at Scranton High School.

Glenn will forever be known as a true gentleman and loving and caring husband, father, brother, and good friend.

A former member of Trinity Congregational Church in West Scranton, Glenn was an avid Penn State Fan, enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting especially with the Dou Boys.

He was a member of both the Freemasons Fraternal Order and the Society of Irishmen.

The family would like to thank Dr. Fateh and his staff at Geisinger CMC as well as the staff at Allied Hospice for the care and compassion they showed towards Glenn.

Also surviving is stepson, Brian Durkin, Scranton; sister-in-law, Margo Dougherty, Scranton; brother, Joseph Dougherty, Chinchilla; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Emery “Duke” Dougherty; and two nephews, Paul and Joey Dougherty.

A blessing service will be held at noon on Friday at Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton.  Carl J. Savino, Jr., Supervisor.  Internment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends and family may call Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
