Goldye Schick Weinberger, 92, of Scranton, died peacefully at home on Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Murray Weinberger, on April 23, 2003.
She was born September 20, 1931, in Scranton, the daughter of the late Moe and Florence Schick. A lifelong resident of Scranton, she was deeply involved in her community, where she volunteered her time and resources to numerous charitable activities.
Goldye's commitment to service was evident through her involvement in numerous organizations. She was a passionate advocate for the Women's Resource Center, a lifelong member of Hadassah, and an active supporter of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and Keystone College. Her contributions also extended to the Everhart Museum, Planned Parenthood, and the Humane Society.
Goldye is survived by her four children, Lee Canter, Marsha Snyter (Michael), Mark Weinberger (Nancy), and Gail Rodman (Robert). She also had eleven beloved grandchildren and five cherished great-grandchildren.
Goldye's warmth and hospitality were legendary. She loved hosting family and friends for all occasions, creating an atmosphere of love and togetherness that will be deeply missed. Her generosity, kindness, and community legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. May her memory be a blessing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Goldye's memory to any of the charities listed above, reflecting her lifelong dedication to the community, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Dalton Jewish Cemetery, Shoemaker Road, Dalton, by Rabbi Benny Rapoport.
Friends will be received during shiva at the family residence on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Friday afternoon from 1-4 p.m.
