Gray P. "Butch" Bossi, Jr. Obituary

Gray P. “Butch” Bossi, Jr., died unexpectedly Sunday evening a week before his 77th birthday which would have been celebrated May 27th at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara J. Savino. The couple had celebrated 51 years of marriage on April 15th.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Gray P. Sr. and Grace Guarina Bossi, he was a graduate of Throop High School Class of 1965.  He went on to graduate from both the Johnson School of Technology and Temple University where he earned his B.S. degree in vocational education.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a drafting teacher for 35 years for the Lackawanna County Vocational School.  Throughout his many years of teaching, he was regarded not only as a teacher, but as a mentor of making good life decisions. Gray had also been a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

A member of St. Ann’s Basilica in West Scranton, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was centered around his family.  He enjoyed family gatherings and supported his grandchildren in all of their activities.  He loved spending time at Lake Wallenpaupack, hunting, fishing, and working around his home.  In his younger days he and his lifelong fishing buddies would take fishing trips to Canada two to three times a year.  He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Also surviving is a son, Gray-Paul Bossi, III and wife Stephanie, and former daughter-in-law Kathy Ewing and husband Wes, all of Clarks Summit; grandchildren Gray-Paul IV, Nico, Siena, and Luca; his sister, Roseanne “Windy” Manganardo and husband Mario, Yulee, FL; his brother Robert Bossi and wife Nancy of Nicholson; his aunts, Loretta Guarina of Spring Brook Township and Louise Severini of Scranton; nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.

He was also preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Penetar and Traditional Home Health and Hospice, as well as the entire staff of Geisinger-Community Medical Center for the loving care and compassion given to both Gray and his family.

The funeral will be Thursday, May 25th, with Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Ann’s Basilica, St. Ann St., in West Scranton.  Gray’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of mass.

Interment will be private.
