Howard Alan Kramer, 76, of Scranton, died Tuesday night at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. His wife of 49 years, the former Rita Lou Kramer, preceded him in death in 2015.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Jacob and Rachel Posner Kramer, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and went on to obtain his B.S. from the NYU Stern School of Business. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during The Vietnam War.
Howard ran Kramer Beef in Scranton, which was created by his father, who immigrated to America from Moldova as a child. After selling Kramer Beef, Howard sold insurance with Mutual of New York, and was an administrator at Action, Inc. He was a lifelong investor in the stock market, and had a deep interest in and knowledge of current events and popular culture. He was also an avid reader, and in later years he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Julie Kramer and husband Niko Triantafillou, and Jacob Kramer and wife Sara Clough, all of New York City; grandchildren Josephine Clough Kramer and Elias Shepard Clough Kramer; his sister, Marylyn Preven, Palm Beach Gardens; as well as nieces, a nephew, and cousins.
The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Cantor Vladimir Aronzon. Interment, Dalton Jewish Cemetery.
All those attending the service at the funeral home are kindly asked to wear a mask. For those not vaccinated who wish to attend a portion of the service, the family requests that you go directly to the cemetery at 2 p.m. The service will also be made available for streaming via the funeral home Facebook page.
Shiva will be privately observed.
